Delphi and Unicode White Paper

Filed under: Programming — Jan Goyvaerts @ 15:40

CodeGear has published a white paper titled Delphi and Unicode. It’s 27 pages long and explains the most important technical issues dealing with Unicode in Delphi 2009.

The white paper is an excerpt from Macro Cantù’s upcoming Delphi 2009 Handbook. That book covers the new features in Delphi 2009 in depth. I did the technical review of the first section, which gives you close to 100 pages of detailed information on working with Unicode (and non-Unicode) characters and strings in Delphi 2009, and how to deal with the new Unicode stuff when migrating applications from older versions of Delphi. I haven’t seen the other sections of the book yet, but based on the quality and detail of the first section, I can certainly recommend it to any Delphi developer upgrading to Delphi 2009. The book hasn’t been published yet, so check out the white paper in the mean time.
